Email warm-up, done for you

Updated

Short answer

Email warm-up builds a new mailbox’s reputation by starting with a few emails a day and raising volume over three to four weeks, so cold email lands in the inbox instead of spam. Outbound Labs warms every mailbox it sends from, sets SPF, DKIM and DMARC, rotates inboxes, keeps each to about 40 cold emails a day and pauses a campaign if bounces pass 2%.

Warm-up time
About 3–4 weeks per new mailbox
Daily limit
Up to 40 cold emails per inbox
Included
5 mailboxes on Growth, 25 on Scale
Safety stop
Auto-pause above 2% bounce

Why do new mailboxes need warm-up?

A brand-new inbox that sends two hundred emails on its first day looks exactly like a spammer. Mailbox providers decide where an email lands from the sender’s history, and a new mailbox has none. Warm-up builds that history gradually.

How Outbound Labs warms and protects mailboxes

StepWhat happens
Separate domainsCold email goes out from lookalike sending domains, never your main domain.
AuthenticationSPF, DKIM and DMARC are set up for every sending domain. Google and Yahoo require all three for bulk senders.
Ramp-upEach mailbox starts at a handful of emails a day, mixed with warm-up traffic that gets opened and replied to, rising over three to four weeks.
Daily limitsUp to 40 cold emails per inbox per day, sent in the recipient’s working hours.
RotationVolume is spread across several inboxes instead of pushing one harder.
MonitoringEach inbox gets a health score every morning; campaigns pause automatically if bounces pass 2%.

Can I use my own mailboxes?

Yes. On a paid plan you can connect Google Workspace or Microsoft 365 mailboxes, or Outbound Labs can set up new sending domains with all the DNS records. The free trial sends from domains that are already warm, so you can test without waiting.

Frequently asked questions

What is email warm-up?
Email warm-up builds a new mailbox’s sending reputation by starting at a few emails a day, mixed with messages that are opened and replied to, and raising volume slowly over several weeks.
How long does email warm-up take?
About three to four weeks for a new mailbox before it sends cold email at normal volume.
How many cold emails can a warmed mailbox send per day?
Roughly 30 to 50. Outbound Labs sends up to 40 per inbox per day by default and adds mailboxes for more volume instead of pushing one inbox harder.
Should I warm up my main company domain?
No. Send cold email from separate lookalike domains so your main domain, which carries invoices, password resets and support, is never at risk.
Is warm-up included in Outbound Labs?
Yes. Growth includes 5 warmed mailboxes and Scale includes 25. The free trial sends from domains that are already warm.
