Short answerArtisan's Ava is worth a trial for a team with a clear target list, volume to run and someone to supervise it, and hard to justify for solo reps or tiny budgets. Prices differ by source, from $250 a month to quotes, so confirm in writing. Use the free trial before any contract.
Key takeaways
- Artisan's pricing page shows Team, Scale and Enterprise as talk-to-sales; its own 11x comparison page says plans start at $250 a month, monthly, with a free trial. Third-party figures range from $250 to about $2,000 a month.
- At about 20 credits per contacted prospect (via The AI Agent Index), a 10,000-credit plan covers roughly 500 contacts a month, or about $0.50 a contact at $250. That is our arithmetic, before mailboxes and dialer.
- Most reviews are published by competitors, including us. Reviewers repeat the same themes: supervision needed, email quality varies, data accuracy depends on the segment.
- Artisan says you can run a campaign in approval mode; a competitor review says there is no full staging mode. Test it in the trial.
Short answer. Artisan's Ava is worth testing if you have a defined target list, enough volume to use the credits, and a person who will read what it sends. It is a weak fit for a solo rep or a tiny budget. We sell a competing product and haven't used Artisan ourselves, so this page rests on Artisan's own site, TechCrunch and cited reviews. Our Outbound Labs vs Artisan page has the side-by-side; this one is about the buying decision.
Who is Artisan AI worth it for?
Teams that already know who they sell to and can feed Ava a tight target list. Reviewers describe it as a productivity tool that needs weekly oversight, not a replacement for a rep. Our read, based on the sources below:
| Your situation | Our read |
| Team with a proven offer and a CRM, wanting data, sequencing and booking in one tool | Worth a trial |
| Enterprise with named accounts and a person to review output | Worth a pilot, with contract terms in writing |
| Solo founder still testing the message | Probably too early; a tool scales a message you haven't proven |
| Main channel is LinkedIn, or budget under a few hundred dollars a month | Look elsewhere; SalesRobot (a competitor) says the same |
How much does Artisan AI cost?
It depends on which page you believe. Artisan's pricing page lists Team (about 2,500 leads contacted a month), Scale (about 6,000) and Enterprise, all "talk to sales". Its 11x comparison page says "Plans from $250/mo, monthly, cancel anytime". Third parties report different numbers, and we checked each on 2026-10-31.
| Source | Reported entry and mid tier | Credits |
| Artisan pricing page | Team, Scale, Enterprise: quote only | Not shown |
| Artisan vs 11x page | From $250/mo, monthly | Not shown |
| The AI Agent Index (verified 2026-10-14) | Intern $250, Employee $600 (annual); $280 and $660 monthly | 10K and 25K |
| SalesRobot (competitor, 2026-09-11) | $280 and $660 monthly | 12K and 30K |
| Bitscale (competitor, 2026-07-20) | Starter $400, Growth $1,000 | 10K and 30K |
| The RevOps Report (undated 2026) | About $1,500 and $2,000 a month, annual contract | Not stated |
Plans seem to have changed over time, and the sources describe different dates and tiers. Ask Artisan for a written quote showing credits, mailboxes, dialer seats and term.
How far do Artisan's credits go?
About 500 contacts a month on a 10,000-credit plan. The AI Agent Index reports Artisan saying a typical campaign uses about 20 credits per person contacted; SalesRobot says about 22. The table below is our arithmetic on the $250 and $600 annual-billing prices, and it leaves out mailboxes, phone numbers, the dialer and your time.
| Plan (reported) | Credits | Contacts at 20 credits | Software cost per contact | Cost per meeting at 2 / 5 / 10 meetings |
| Intern, $250/mo | 10,000 | about 500 | $0.50 | $125 / $50 / $25 |
| Employee, $600/mo | 25,000 | about 1,250 | $0.48 | $300 / $120 / $60 |
The real question is how many contacts become meetings, which is your assumption, not a vendor figure. Put your own rates into the cost per meeting calculator and the AI SDR ROI calculator.
Is there a free trial?
Yes, per Artisan and The AI Agent Index. Artisan says free trial, no credit card, live in about ten minutes. The Index reports a permanent Free plan with 300 credits (roughly 15 contacts at 20 credits each) and a 30-day trial of 10,000 credits. Terms change, so check the signup page.
Use all 30 days on one segment and one offer. Write down your pass mark before you start: positive replies, meetings held, cost per held meeting. A trial with no pass mark just produces opinions.
Can you approve emails before Ava sends them?
Artisan says yes: its Ava page says you can run a campaign in approval mode or let her send, chosen per campaign. Bitscale, a competitor, wrote in July 2026 that Ava has no true staging mode to review a full batch of drafts first. The two claims may describe different versions.
Settle it in the trial. Ask to see a full batch of drafts for 100 contacts before anything sends, and check you can edit, reject and set banned phrases. If sending to real prospects without review worries you, read what to hand to AI agents and what to keep human.
Do Artisan's emails read well?
Mixed, according to the reviews we read. SalesRobot says personalization can feel robotic, and Bitscale says it stays mostly at company, role and the occasional funding trigger. Both sell rival tools. Artisan says each email is unique, with no templates or variables, and cites SaaStr's CEO on higher open rates. Nobody neutral has published a blind test that we found.
Our advice: judge on replies, not opens. Read 30 drafts yourself before you trust the sample.
How good is Artisan's contact data?
Artisan states a database of 250M+ verified B2B contacts across 200+ countries. The RevOps Report says accuracy drops outside well-covered segments such as US tech, quoting one unnamed analyst with email validity below 60% for European manufacturing. We can't verify that figure. Run a sample of 200 contacts from your segment through an email verifier before sending, whatever the vendor says. Bounce rates hurt more than a weak email; see our AI SDR page for how we handle auto-pause above 2% bounce.
Are you locked into a contract?
Unclear, and it varies by plan. Artisan's comparison page says monthly and cancel anytime for plans from $250. The RevOps Report says all plans need an annual contract, and the AI Agent Index shows annual and monthly prices side by side. In the 2025 TechCrunch interview, Artisan's CEO said some customers are let out of contracts that include break clauses. Ask: term, auto-renewal, what is billed on exit, and who owns your domains and mailboxes afterward.
What has Artisan itself said about results and churn?
In April 2025, TechCrunch reported a $25M Series A, and Artisan said it had 250 customers and $5M in annual recurring revenue. Those are company figures, not verified. The CEO also said customers had quit, that early versions had "extremely bad hallucinations", and that first-generation AI SDRs had high churn across the category. Credit to him for saying so. It also means you should treat "set it and forget it" claims with care.
Who wrote the reviews you are reading?
Mostly competitors. SalesRobot, Bitscale, SBL and others sell outreach tools and rank themselves as the answer, and the SBL author wrote that he can't verify every complaint. We are a competitor too. The AI Agent Index reports a G2 rating of 4.2 out of 5 from 64 reviews, a small sample. We found no Reddit threads we could open, so we aren't quoting any. Weight Artisan's own pages and TechCrunch most, and a written quote and your own trial above all.
How does Outbound Labs compare?
We build Outbound Labs, so weigh this accordingly. It is a self-serve AI SDR: six agents, you approve every campaign, and the first 750 emails are free with no card. Growth is $149 a month for 5,000 emails and Scale is $499 for 25,000. It is in early access with a waitlist, and it has no dialer or Artisan-style onboarding team. See the Artisan comparison, AI SDR pricing compared, our 11x comparison and is 11x worth it for the sales-led end of the market.
