lemlist vs Mailshake: which is better, and what does each cost for your team size?

lemlist vs Mailshake from both vendors' pricing pages: cost for 1, 3 and 5 users, mailbox limits, LinkedIn rules, stale claims to ignore and who should pick which.

Short answer

Mailshake is the cheaper, simpler email sender for one or two people. lemlist is the better pick once you need its lead database, LinkedIn and more than two users, because its Email plan is one price per workspace while Mailshake charges per seat. At the top tiers the two cost almost the same per seat, so compare what each seat includes.

Key takeaways

  • On yearly billing, one email-only user costs $25 on Mailshake Starter and $55 on lemlist Email. At three users it flips: $75 on Mailshake vs $55 on lemlist, because lemlist's Email plan covers the whole workspace.
  • The top tiers are close: Mailshake Sales Engagement is $85 per seat yearly and lemlist Multichannel is $87. The real difference is data, channels and trial terms.
  • Several 2026 comparisons are wrong on both vendors' prices. We read both pricing pages on 28 October 2026 and flag each stale claim.
  • The sending limit that bites first is mailboxes, not the plan's email cap. At 40 emails per inbox per day, Mailshake Starter's single address sends about 880 a month, below its 1,500 cap.
  • LinkedIn says it does not permit browser extensions that automate activity. That applies to any LinkedIn automation, so keep volumes low on either tool.

Search "lemlist vs mailshake" and almost every result is written by a vendor or an affiliate. lemlist's own comparison says lemlist wins four of six rounds. ZoomInfo, La Growth Machine and Stealery each finish by pointing you at something they sell. So we went to the source: we read both vendors' pricing pages on 28 October 2026 and used rival write-ups only where we name them. We haven't run campaigns on either tool, so nothing here is first-hand testing. We also sell something nearby, an AI SDR, so weigh our framing the way you'd weigh anyone's.

Which is better, lemlist or Mailshake?

Neither wins everywhere. Mailshake is the cheaper and simpler email sender for one or two people. lemlist is the stronger platform once you want a built-in lead database, LinkedIn and calls in one sequence, or more than two users. At the top tiers the per-seat prices are nearly equal, so the choice is about what each seat includes.

What does lemlist cost compared with Mailshake for 1, 3 and 5 users?

For one email-only user Mailshake is cheaper. From three users up, lemlist's Email plan wins, because lemlist prices it per workspace while Mailshake bills per seat. On yearly billing, five people on Mailshake Email Outreach pay $225 a month against $55 for lemlist Email. The top tiers stay within a few dollars of each other.

lemlist Email (workspace)$55$55$55
Mailshake Starter ($25 per user)$25$75$125
Mailshake Email Outreach ($45 per user)$45$135$225
lemlist Multichannel ($87 per user)$87$261$435
Mailshake Sales Engagement ($85 per user)$85$255$425

On monthly billing the same rows read: lemlist Email $69 at any size; Mailshake Starter $29, $87 and $145; Email Outreach $49, $147 and $245; lemlist Multichannel $109, $327 and $545; Mailshake Sales Engagement $99, $297 and $495. Sources: the lemlist pricing page and the Mailshake pricing page, both read 28 October 2026. The multiplication is ours.

Two limits on the table. lemlist Email lists 50,000 emails a month, and the plan is email only. Mailshake Starter caps sends at 1,500 a month per seat, which works out to $16.67 per 1,000 sends yearly against $1.10 per 1,000 on lemlist Email at its full allowance. Data is extra on both: lemlist's enrichment add-on is $16 yearly for 2,000 credits, and Mailshake's Data Finder add-on is $17 yearly. Mailshake's page doesn't say how many credits that buys, so check with Mailshake. For lemlist's credit math in full, see our lemlist pricing breakdown.

Why do comparison articles disagree about prices and trials?

They disagree because most were written months ago, copy each other, or are written by a competitor. We found four claims that don't match the vendors' own pages. When a number matters, find the date it was checked, then compare it with the pricing page itself, which is the only source that can't be a month out of date.

Mailshake LinkedIn limits: 20 messages, 10 connection requests, 10 profile views a dayZoomInfolemlist's Mailshake review says 10 messages a day and 70 a week. Neither is on a Mailshake page we could read

The trial point deserves a caveat on both sides. Mailshake's page header offers a "Try for free" button, while its FAQ says there is no free trial, so ask support what the button does. lemlist's FAQ heading describes a 14-day trial, yet its pricing page showed a banner for a 30-day offer attached to a named creator's referral. Don't count on 30 days unless your own link shows it.

How do the channels and lead data differ?

lemlist puts lead sourcing and several channels in one platform: a 650M+ database, enrichment, LinkedIn, SMS, calls and a WhatsApp add-on. Mailshake is email first. Phone dialing and, according to ZoomInfo, LinkedIn steps arrive only on the $85 to $99 Sales Engagement plan, and lead data is a credit add-on.

That matters for who does the prospecting. With lemlist you can build a list inside the tool, but every email found costs credits (lemlist's page says 2,000 credits buy 400 emails or 100 phone numbers). With Mailshake you will probably bring your own list from another source and pay for verification separately. Neither route is cheaper by default: if you already have a list, lemlist's database is something you pay for and don't use.

Personalization differs too. lemlist is known for image and video variables inside emails. Mailshake has an AI writer and A/B tests on its entry plans. Reviewers say Mailshake is quicker for a new rep to learn and lemlist has more to configure. We'd treat that as a reasonable reading of the G2 themes, not a measured result. If your reps spend their time on research and copy, a tool does little; the AI SDR approach exists for that reason.

Which is better for sending limits and mailboxes?

Mailboxes decide your real capacity, more than the monthly email cap on the plan. At Outbound Labs' own setting of 40 emails per inbox per day, one mailbox sends about 880 emails in a 22-sending-day month. Mailshake Starter's one address would therefore never reach its 1,500 cap. lemlist's 50,000 would need around 57 mailboxes.

PlanMailboxes (per the pricing page)Monthly email capSends at 40 a day per mailbox, 22 days
Mailshake Starter1 address1,500880
Mailshake Email Outreach2 addressesUnlimited1,760
Mailshake Sales Engagement10 addressesUnlimited8,800
lemlist EmailUnlimited senders50,000Depends on mailboxes you connect
lemlist Multichannel5 senders per userUnlimited4,400 per user

Mailshake's own page contradicts itself here. The plan cards list 1, 2 and 10 addresses per account, while the billing FAQ says each paid user can connect one mail account. Check with Mailshake which applies to your plan. Mailshake also sells ready-to-use mailboxes at $11 a month yearly ($12 monthly), and lemlist's page lists no mailbox product. Our cold email capacity calculator turns your target volume into mailbox and domain counts, and the 40-a-day figure is ours, so use your own number.

Which has better deliverability and warm-up?

The evidence doesn't separate them. Both include warm-up, lemwarm on every lemlist plan and unlimited warm-up on every Mailshake plan, and the reviews we read split on which lands better. What moves inbox placement is authentication, volume ramp, list quality and complaint rate, which you control on either tool.

Google's email sender guidelines are the hard line. Since 1 February 2024, senders to Gmail must authenticate with SPF or DKIM. Google also says to keep the spam rate in Postmaster Tools below 0.10% and never reach 0.30%. A sequencer can't fix a list that produces complaints. Run your domains through our email domain checker before you warm anything, and read our guide to AI cold email deliverability for stop rules on bounces. One reviewer, Stealery, estimates Mailshake is fine under about 200 emails a day, which is its opinion with no test attached.

Is LinkedIn automation safe on either tool?

It carries risk on both. LinkedIn's help page says it does not permit third-party software, including browser plug-ins and extensions, that scrape, modify or automate activity on its site. Mailshake's LinkedIn actions run through a Chrome extension, per ZoomInfo. We could not confirm from lemlist's pages how its LinkedIn automation runs, so check with lemlist.

So the sensible approach is the same for both. Use low daily limits, keep the volume human-sized, and don't run LinkedIn automation on an account you can't afford to lose. If LinkedIn matters more than email for you, read LinkedIn's own rule first, then compare tools. Our LinkedIn automation page covers how we handle it. Don't buy a tier mainly for LinkedIn steps without testing them on a spare account.

When should you choose lemlist, and when Mailshake?

Choose Mailshake for one or two people sending email, a short learning curve and the lowest bill. Choose lemlist for three or more users on email, a built-in lead source, LinkedIn and calls in one sequence, or a trial you can use before paying. If neither describes you, a third option may fit better.

Choose lemlist whenChoose Mailshake when
You have three or more users sending email only (flat workspace price)One or two people send, and $25 to $45 a month matters
You want to source and enrich leads in the same toolYou already have a list and a verifier

You want to test before you payYou are happy to commit up front

If a third sequencer is on your list, our lemlist alternatives post covers the field, and the Saleshandy vs Instantly comparison shows how contact caps can change the real price.

How should you test lemlist and Mailshake before paying?

Run the same 200 prospects through both for two weeks, split evenly, on your own authenticated domains. Record placement, bounces and replies, not features. Stop a test if bounces go above 2%. Because Mailshake has no trial per its FAQ, budget one paid month for it, and use a monthly plan, not a yearly one.

The mailbox row is the one people skip, and Mailshake's conflicting wording makes it the first thing to confirm.

Where does an AI SDR fit next to lemlist and Mailshake?

lemlist and Mailshake are software you operate: you source the list, write the sequences and read the replies. An AI SDR does that work and asks you to approve each campaign. At Outbound Labs, six agents research, write, send and handle replies. Growth is $149 a month for 5,000 emails, and you can start with 750 emails free, no card.

So compare cost per booked meeting, which includes your hours, rather than the monthly sticker. Our cost per meeting calculator takes your own reply and meeting rates, and the Outbound Labs pricing page lists what the plans include. If you don't want to run a sequencer, that is a different purchase, not a cheaper version of this one.

Frequently asked questions

Is Mailshake cheaper than lemlist?
For one user, yes. Mailshake's yearly Starter is $25 a month against $55 for lemlist's Email plan. From three users up, lemlist's Email plan is cheaper, because it is priced per workspace and Mailshake per seat. Check which plan features you actually need before comparing.
Does Mailshake have a free trial?
Mailshake's pricing FAQ says no, payment is collected up front. Some comparison sites claim a 30-day trial, which we could not match to Mailshake's page. lemlist's FAQ describes a 14-day trial, and its pricing page showed a 30-day offer tied to a creator referral on the day we read it.
Which has the bigger lead database?
lemlist lists a 650M+ lead database on its pricing page. Mailshake sells Data Finder as a paid add-on, and ZoomInfo's May 2026 comparison puts it at 100M+ prospects. Check with Mailshake for the current figure and how many credits each add-on buys.
Can I run LinkedIn automation safely on either?
No tool makes it risk-free. LinkedIn's help page says it does not permit third-party software, plug-ins or extensions that automate activity on its site. Keep daily actions low, use a secondary workflow for important accounts and accept that your account could be restricted.
Is either lemlist or Mailshake an AI SDR?
No. Both are sequencers that a person operates. lemlist has AI features such as lemAgent and Mailshake has an AI email writer, but you still build lists, set sequences and read replies. An AI SDR does that work and asks you to approve each campaign.
